IRIS MITIGATION AND DESIGN,INC.
IRIS 2022 Arapahoe Street
MITIGATION AND DESIGN,INC. Golden,Colorado 80401
Environmental Consulting Phone: 720-272-1985
bleisure@irismitigation.com
to this trampling and the hot summer conditions, the 0.16 acre mitigation areas were re-seeded
and stabilized with erosion control blanket, at Cotter's expense, in mid-September 2012.
1 All seeding and mulching of Phase 1 mitigation areas was completed in 2012 as per the revised
actual area impact and mitigation calculations (see Table 1).
' 2013 Tree and Shrub Installation
The required Phase 1 mitigation area trees and shrubs were installed in late April and early May
2013. The tree and shrub count is detailed on Table 2 and includes 2 upland trees, 208 upland
shrubs, 20 riparian trees, 120 riparian shrubs and 150 willow stakes.
' The trees and shrubs were provided by Conservation Seeding and Restoration Inc. ("CSR") and
' were installed by a CSR team with oversight from IRIS. IRIS field staked the locations where all
trees and shrubs were planted in the upland, riparian and wetland mitigation areas along the
' Creek. It took approximately one week for CSR to install, mulch, and water all species with IRIS
oversight. As it was a wet spring through mid-June 2013 no supplemental watering of the
1 installed species was required. However, due to the dry summer and fall months that resulted
' in the Creek running dry such that no available irrigation water was available, IRIS completed
hand watering of all establishing planted trees and shrubs every week or two as required. A
' 2,000 gallon plastic water tank and associated pump was installed on a trailer and was pulled to
all mitigation areas for use as a water source such that the plants were then watered by hose
from this tank. Hand watering of all establishing mitigation areas continued through late August
Schwartmalder Mine Phase 1 -2013 Mitigation Monitoring Report Page 3
May 31,2014
