Seneca H Mine
SL -6 Phase M Bond Release Request
June 2014
field mapping in the summer of 2010. During the mapping, high density was reserved for those
areas apparently (visually) greater than or equal to 1000 shrubs per acre (25 shrubs per 100 sq.m.).
All portions of the BRB -5 bond release block outside of these concentration areas were labeled
as "Background" density. Table 7 below summarizes the results.
Table 6. 2011 and 2012 Data and Sample Adequacy Summary for Background and
Concentrated Area Woody Plant Density, Phase III BRB -5.
Woody Density Area
Woody Density
s
N
Nn,;,,
t
and Sampling Year
Background Density
554.4
853.9
30
408
1.311
2011 BRB -5 Phase III
Concentrated Area Density
2035.6
1303.1
50
69
1.299
2011 BRB -5 Phase III
Background Density
210.4
392.5
53
572
1.282
2012 BRB -5 Phase III
Concentrated Area Density
1614.7
1278.8
53
103
1.282
2012 BRB -5 Phase III
2011 Woody Plant Density Success Evaluation
The Background density of 554.4 stems per acre observed in the 2011 BRB -5 Phase III bond
release area exceeded the 90 stems per acre performance standard. The mean of 2,035.6 stems
per acre observed in the Concentration Areas also well exceeds the 900 stems per acre
performance standard. The combined total aerial extent of woody density Concentration Areas
was 19.0 acres, or 7.0% of the BRB -5 Phase III bond release block (271.2 acres). Hence the
standard that there would be at least 5% of the Phase III BRB block with at least 1,000 stems per
acre (90% of the standard equals 900 stems per acre) has been met for 2011.
A reverse t -test asserting that the 2011 BRB -5 Phase III Background woody plant density is
indistinguishable from 90% of the standard is as follows:
16
