April 24, 2014 C- 1994- 082/Yoast Mine JHB
There is a stocktank upslope from the confluence with YPM -19. The stocktank was holding a small pool of water
and it was discharging from the lower pipe. The south slope of this stock tank has experienced some rilling. The
northern slope looks fine.
It does not appear that topsoil has been placed on the south side of YPM- 1 -3near YPM -19. It looks like spoil
material on the surface.
YPM -6 -1 continues north of YPM -19 confluence. The gabions on the southern extent of YPM -6 -1 were holding
up well. (Photo 16) There was a hole along the rock rip rap on the north side of YPM -6 -1.
After YPM -7 and YPM - &A meet with YPM -6 -1, there is a large flat area that much of the sediment drops out,
then the drainage continues as YPM -6 -2. The rock check dams in YPM -6 -2 continue to hold up well.
Pond 12A was full of water to the top of the riser and was discharging up to the trash rack. Pond 12A appeared to
be functioning adequately. Pond 12A slopes looked fine. (Photo 17)
Gabions in YPM -5 -1 were holding up well. Patches of spoil were noted remaining on the surface on the north side
of YPM -5 -1 (near the 4th gabion south of Pond 12A).
A good surface flow was observed in YPM -5 -IA. This drainage was not rip- rapped but appeared to be
functioning well. Little flow was observed in YPM -5 -1 upslope of the confluence with YPM -5 -IA.
A gully is forming on the south side of YPM -5 -1 in the vicinity of the 11th gabion south of Pond 12A.. Flow
needs to be routed into YPM -5 -1 instead of running parallel to YPM -5 -1 and down- cutting to form a gully.
YPM -2 was still snow covered so the inspector was unable to observe this drainage.
ROADS — Rule 4.03
Construction 4.03.1(3)/4.03.2(3)
Drainage 4.03.1(4)/4.03.2(4)
Surfacing and Maintenance4.03.1(5) and (6)/4.03.2(5) and (6)
Reclamation 4.03.1(7)/4.03.2(7):
The main access road from Routt County Road No. 27 was in good repair and had been recently graded.
Some down - cutting of the east ditch was observed south of the corrals. SCC spoke to the inspector the previous
day about having already identified this location for maintenance.
Portions of LU3A alongside YPM -20 need additional grading.
The inspector was able to drive to ST -1 on LU3B. At this point there was a significant snowdrift across the
roadway. (Photo 12)
Culvert EX -2 had some sloughing of the upslope of the inlet. The outlet was fine. This culvert was flowing with a
Number of Partial Inspection this Fiscal Year: 8
Number of Complete Inspections this Fiscal Year: 3
Page 4 of 10
