The Steven's Gulch Road bisects the permit
area and consists of a maintained gravel road surface. Secondary roads and
trails are present in the permit boundary and adjacent area.
Dove Cave (5DT1325) is within the permit boundary. A prehistoric open
campsite (5DT1326) located on the first bench above Hubbard Creek and on
the south side of the Dove Gulch Drainage is likely within the permit
boundary.
(a)(i) No response required.
(a)(ii) A brief description of all structures and renewable resource lands which exist
within the proposed permit and adjacent area.
(a)(ii)(A) Colluvial deposits are the source of water for the springs. Most of the springs
are undeveloped, however some springs are water sources for ponds. Flows
from the springs vary widely. See Volume III, Exhibit 3 for historic flow
records.
PR -12
/9 ,ppRo V Ed
1► /16//a
Nine of the springs located within or adjacent to the permit area are decreed
water rights shown on Map 23 - Water Rights Location. The J & M Springs
& Pipelines are claimed for domestic and stock watering purposes. Water
right numbers 1 and 3 are decreed for 4 gallons per minute. Number 2 is
decreed for 2 gpm. Numbers 4 and 5 are decreed for 5 gpm. The Applicant
owns the J & M Springs and Pipelines No. 1, 2, 3 & 4. Bowie Spring S -3 is
decreed for 15 gallons per minute. Stratton Springs are decreed for 22.4
gpm. Leonard Springs Nos. 1 & 2 are decreed for 22.4 gpm and Barrow
Springs is decreed for 44.8 gpm. The springs are located in colluvial
deposits and all are at least 800 feet above the coal seam to be mined. The
water bearing colluvial deposits, the water source of the springs, are
relatively small extending from the spring no further than the major ridge lines
that separate the ephemeral channels in which the springs are located. The
affect of subsidence is not predicted to extend into the ephemeral channels
which are the source of ground water flow for the springs. Therefore, the
springs should not be affected by mining.
2.05-133- 02/10
