(3)(b)(iv)
Maps 08 and 08A present lithologic logs that show the hydraulic isolation of the
Rollins Sandstone.
The perched water below the D -Seam and above the B -Seam is or was monitored
by drill holes D -58a and DH- 67- D -Blw. The quality of water in this perched water
being zone, as reported in the 2007 AHR show pH in the range of 7.8 to 11.6,
conductivity ranges from 485 to 5030 umhos /cm and total recoverable iron ranges
from 0.03 to 31.4 mg /I. Based on the quality of the mine water discussed above,
mine water seepage into the perched water below the D -Seam and above the B-
Seam would improve the water quality in the perched water bearing zones.
The perched water above the D -Seam is or was monitored by drill holes D -58, 66,
and DH- 67- D -Abv. The quality of water in this perched water being zone, as
reported in the 2007 AHR show pH in the range of 6.9 to 13.5, conductivity ranges
from 652 to 5500 umhos /cm and total recoverable iron ranges from 0.08 to 17.7
mg /I. Based on the quality of the mine water discussed above, mine water seepage
into the perched water above the D -Seam would improve the water quality in the
upper perched water bearing zone.
In the western mining district, west of Terror Creek, the perched water above the B-
Seam is monitored at monitoring well 2010 -1 SS. The quality of water in this perched
water being zone, as reported in the 2011 AHR, shows a pH of 12.3, conductivity of
4500 umhos /cm and total recoverable iron of 0.76 mg /I. A single measurement of
the quality of water in the B -Seam from monitoring well 2010 -1 B shows a pH of 9.3,
conductivity of 1190 umhos /cm and total recoverable iron of 15.28 mg /I. Based on
the quality of the B -Seam water, water seepage from the B -Seam into the perched
water above the B -Seam would improve the water quality in the perched water
bearing zone above the B -Seam.
Hydrologic Monitoring Plan
The following monitoring plan is designed to provide data which will verify the Bowie
No. 2 Mine will not have significant adverse impacts on the surface or subsurface
water which is within or adjacent to the permit area. The hydrologic monitoring
locations, shown on Map 9 are:
Springs will be monitored quarterly. Depending on weather conditions, the first
quarter monitoring event may be delayed until April or May. Field parameters will be
measured each quarter and a full suite sample will be obtained each quarterfrom all
springs which have a flow of five gallons per minute or more.
Stock Ponds will be monitored quarterly. Depending on weather conditions, the first
quarter monitoring event may be delayed until April or May. The following
information will be collected for the ponds; 1) inflow; 2) outflow; and 3) water level
PR -13 2.05-116 02/13
