Mostly snow in March, April <br />and early May. The remainder of the precipitation occurs in the form of showers and <br />intense rain events. <br />The optimum growing season for native plants is early spring and summer. The frost - <br />free period ranges from 147 -181 days. Plant Growth can begin anytime from April 1 to <br />May 1. First killing frost can occur as early as September 1. Temperatures range from <br />100 to 35 below zero Fahrenheit. July is the warmest month and January- February are <br />the coldest months. <br />The area commonly has high intensity thunderstorms typically from June thru August. <br />Average wind speeds are 5 -7 miles per hour and the most intense wind period is in the <br />spring months. <br />
