2014 <br />HUERFANO COUNTY GOVERNMENT <br />PEAK VIEW PIT <br />Gravel Pit <br />Section III <br />Ecological Site Information <br />The ecological sites for the Gravel pit area include: Loamy Plains and Loamy Foothills. <br />The majority of the area is Loamy Plains which has similar plant community to the other <br />two sites. <br />The plant community of the gravel pit area is a mix of grasses and forbs primarily with <br />some shrub species. Grasses account for 90 -95% of the plant community while shrubs <br />and forbs make up the balance. The grasses commonly present on this site include: <br />blue grama, western wheatgrass, side oats grama, indian ricegrass, sand dropseed, needle <br />and thread, green needlegrass, little bluestem and bottlebrush squirreltail. <br />Forbs and shrub community commonly occurring are: dotted gayfeather, scarlet <br />globernallow, broom snakeweed, winterfat, Indian paintbrush, hairy goldaster, purple <br />prairie, skunk sumac and other assorted forbs & shrubs may be present. <br />
