April 2014 20 10381640A
4.4 Nearby Water Supply Wells
An initial review of the well permits near the Boettcher Quarry was conducted in 2011 (Golder 2011). The
findings of this initial review are presented in Appendix F. The initial review included a search of the
Colorado Division of Water Resources (DWR) online database for information on local well permits. The
initial review resulted in permits for 76 wells from Township 8N, Range 69W, Sixth PM, Sections 4, 5, 6,
7, 8, 9, 10, 15, 16, 17, 18, 20, and 21. This initial review presented data gaps including well screened
intervals, water levels and general lithology. In an effort to obtain further information on these permitted
wells, the DWR's online database was revisited and each individual well permit was reviewed as part of
the current study.
The well permit review provided additional information on screened intervals and total depths. However,
no additional lithological or static water level data was available. The majority of the well permits in the
DWR database are west of the CKD disposal area. Based on the dip of the lithological units at the Site,
only those wells that are located to the east of the CKD disposal area A2 have the potential to be
screened across or immediately above the Niobrara /Codell contact. Since the screened intervals of these
wells do not intercept the Niobrara /Codell contact, water quality samples collected from them would not
be beneficial in evaluating the effect of CKD disposal area A2 on groundwater quality.
_mom - -_
(D2--tif
Golder}
010\81640a\ 0400 \gwoharwelI installfieldrep _fnl- 30apr14 \10381640a gwcharrp [_holcim- boettcher_fnl- 28apr14- with holcim edtts.docx Associates
