MINING PLAN
1. General Mining Plan
EXHIBIT D
The property boundary has been surveyed on site and the permit area will be surveyed prior to
any site disturbance. Map C -3 shows the mining plan.
The gravel zone is approximately 20 feet thick in an alluvial deposit and is overlain by soil and
overburden ranging from 6 inches to 20 feet. The deposit will be mined in a four pit sequence,
beginning with the southwestern -most pit. The southwest and southeast pits (Pits 1 &2), along
with the southern phases of the two large northern pits (Pits 3 & 4), are on the lower terrace
while the northern halves of Pits 3 & 4 are on a terrace approximately 20 feet higher. Overburden
and topsoil will be removed via either bulldozer or scraper in all pits, establishing a 2H:1 V slope
in each pit. Initially, in Pit 1 (see Map C -3) overburden and topsoil is stockpiled to the immediate
northwest of the pit. Upon completion of the mining of Pit 1, the overburden stockpile will be
used to build both the 3H:1 V reclaimed slope and the wetland shelves as shown in Map F -1. The
overburden and topsoil removed from Phase 1 of Pit 2 was placed in the stockpile immediately
north of Pit 1 and will be placed in Pit 1 to complete the wetland shelves. The following phases'
overburden will be placed in the previously mined out phase(s) to build 3H:1 V reclaimed slopes
and wetland fringe. The initial overburden and topsoil from Pits 3 & 4 will be set aside, with the
overburden of each phase being placed in the previously excavated phase. The set aside
overburden and topsoil will be used to reclaim the final phase of each pit.
The maximum total tonnage sold from the site in any one calendar year is approximately 700,000
tons, though the expected annual average is 600,000 tons. The raw material will be sold in three
products: sand and gravel, concrete, and asphalt. A break down of the product tonnages and
mined tonnages can be seen in Table D -1. The total disturbed area is 229.54 acres. A
breakdown of the estimated areas is included in Table D -2.
15 Road Pit May 14 D -1
