Topsoiling
Topsoiling will be needed along the following areas:
— Portion of Pit 1. Topsoil has been placed along the lake perimeter in some areas but additional
topsoil will be needed to cover the 11.51 acres of wetland shelves and an additional 8.4 acres
around the lake. This is a total of 19.91 acres x 8 inches = 21,414 cy.
-Pit 2 is almost entirely topsoiled except for 6.4 acres around the lake in the dryland areas. This
is 6883 cy of topsoil at a depth of 8 inches.
-Pit 3 will get filled by water but the perimeter will require topsoil to 8" depth. This area is 2980
ft perimeter x 50 feet width = 3.4 acres. The volume is 3679 cy.
-Pit 4 will get filled by water but the perimeter will require topsoil to 8" depth. This area is 5007
ft perimeter x 50 feet width = 5.75 acres. The volume is 6181 cy.
- Additional area of overburden stockpile footprints, pit roads, and facility areas total an
additional 9.5 acres. The volume of topsoil required for this work is 10,217 cy.
Therefore, the total topsoiling volume needed to move and place on site is 48,374 cy. The cost
for this moving and placement is $1.40 per cy.
Topsoil Preparation
Ripping and/or discing of the topsoil will occur after placement. The total area is 44.96 acres.
Most of the remaining area of disturbance will be filled with water and will become lake surface.
The ripping /discing cost is estimated to be $200 per acre.
15 Road Pit May 14 L -3
