water to be pumped for Pit 4 is is 34.22 acres x 12 feet average depth. This is 17,887,500 cubic
feet or 133,798,000 gallons. The volume of water to be pumped for Pit 3 is is 8.75 acres x 12 feet
average depth. This is 11535123 cubic feet or 86,282,724 gallons. The total to be pumped is
168,010,000 gallons.
The various overburden stockpiles present on site, as shown on Map C -3, will be used to backfill
the pits from a mine slope of 2H:1 V to the final 311: 1 V slope. The approximate depth is 20 feet,
therefore, the required backfill is 1200 sq. ft — 800 sq ft per ft, or 400 sq. ft per ft.x both pit
perimeters. Pit 3 has a perimeter of 2980 ft and Pit 4 has a perimeter of 5007 ft. The volumes are
therefore 400 sq ft x (2980 ft + 5007 ft) = 118,325 cy. This material is available from the
stockpiles shown on Map C -3. A 980 loader or equivalent will be used to load the material into
an off road articulated truck of 30 cy capacity, which will take the material to the location at the
top of the pit, where a Cat D8 dozer will push the material downward to attain the 311:1 V slope.
The cost of this work is expected to be $1.55 per cy.
Structure Removal
The northeast corner of the permit area contains the below - ground truck scale, the small scale
house, office building with 24' x 28' concrete foundation of 6" thickness, and a large Quonset
but cloth storage building of 30 feet x 60 feet length. This building is portable and can be
removed easily. There is no foundation for this building. Fuel is also stored in steel secondary
containment troughs in this area.
The cost for removal of these structures is as follows:
Truck scale - $4000.
Office building with foundation - $7000
Storage building - $300
Fuel Storage: $1000.
15 Road Pit May 14 L -2
