Seneca II West is a reclaimed surface coal <br />mine. Most of the site has been reclaimed. A facilities area with a shop and some maintenance equipment remain <br />on site, as well as sediment ponds, stocktanks, and roads. <br />The weather on the first day of the inspection was mild but very windy. A storm blew in the evening of 4/22. On <br />4/23 1 -2 inches of fresh snow had fallen at the higher altitudes of the mine site. Roads were very soft and muddy <br />on 4/23. The ground was very muddy on 4/23 after the fresh rain /snow mix. A second round of snow blew in <br />during the inspection on 4/23, making observations limited due to low visibility. <br />SCC representative, Roy Karo, was met on the roadway on 4/23, while he was on horseback. Otherwise, no SCC <br />representative accompanied the inspection. <br />FISH and WILDLIFE — Rule 4.18: <br />Inspector flushed up 4 Sage grouse in the North pit, as well as two Columbian sharptailed grouse at the top <br />of the ridge at the eastern extent of the north pit. <br />A large concentration of grouse feathers was observed east of stocktank T -24.
