6.4.12 Exhibit L - Reclamation Costs
14. The Division will estimate the cost to reclaim the site based on the information submitted once the
Applicant addresses the concerns noted in this letter.
We recognize the Division will give a cost estimate for reclamation after all adequacy concerns are
addressed. The Division appears to utilize the same cost estimating software for the entire state.
Our hope would be that the Division could appreciate the differences in reclamation costs in eastern
Colorado compared to other parts of the state.
While not addressed in the adequacy letter, the buffer zone which will actually not be mined is
more clearly defined by an attached map. Based on the estimate prepared by Mark Kokes, the area
lying outside the white line will be a buffer zone. That area calculates to be 6.4 acres. This needs to
be taken into account as the cost estimate is developed.
Please let us know if any additional information is needed in response at this time.
Sincerely,
Randy Schafer
CC: Mr. Mark Kokes, MMM Partnership
Logan County Clerk
Enclosures: A copy of all maps, as revised, and signed
Copy of signed and notarized letter regarding fencing
Copy of signed and notarized letter regarding maintenance of access roadway
Proof of Publication from the Sterling Journal Advocate
Proof of Notice to Surface and Mineral owners
Proof of Notice to adjoin leaseholders
Revised section on Reclamation
Revised section on Mining
