Weather conditions at the time of the inspection <br />were clear; ground conditions appeared to be dry. <br />The mine is actively producing coal from the B seam west of Terror Creek, although it appeared that a longwall <br />move might still be underway, based on the coal stockpile levels. Coal refuse was being placed in Gob Pile #3; <br />grading and compaction were underway at Gob Piles #2 and #3. <br />HYDROLOGIC BALANCE -Rule 4.05 <br />Drainage Control 4.05.1, 4.05.2, 4.05.3; Siltation Structures 4.05.5, 4.05.6; Discharge Structures 4.05.7, 4.05.10; <br />Diversions 4.05.4; Effluent Limits 4.05.2; Ground Water Monitoring 4.05.13; Surface Water Monitoring 4.05.13; <br />Drainage —Acid and Toxic Materials 4.05.8; Impoundments 4.05.6, 4.05.9; Stream Buffer Zones 4.05.18: <br />• All of the sediment ponds held water. Ponds B and F had sediment building up on the inlet end of the <br />ponds. <br />• It appeared that a considerable amount of water was draining from the Gob Pile #3 drying area to Pond J <br />via ditch J -3. <br />• Flow in the Fire Mountain Canal had been started; the canal and the North Fork of the Gunnison River <br />were both red/brown with sediment. <br />PROCESSING WASTE /COAL MINE WASTE PILES Rule 4.10 and 4.11 <br />Drainage Control; Surface Stabilization; Placement: <br />Progress continues on grading and compacted material end dumped during the winter months, but there remains a <br />considerable amount of material to be handled. No trucks were observed hauling refuse along any of the haul <br />routes from the plant to the gob piles; one truck was approaching the refuse hopper for loading. <br />Gob Pile 42: <br />• End - dumped material on Gob Pile 42 was being graded and compacted.
