P.E. <br />Subject: SANDY ACRES LAKE INHLL PROJECT <br />1.0 INTRODUCTION <br />On behalf of the E-470 Public Highway Authority, URS has completed a brief review of the Sandy Acres <br />Lake Infill project and the resultant impacts on drainage. This memorandum describes the proposed <br />improvements and summarizes the overall impacts to historic runoff and drainage patterns. <br />1.1 PROJECT DESCRIPTION <br />Currentiv. Sandy Acres Lake is a body of water created by former gravel mining operations in the area. <br />The primary source of the water is groundwater. The area is no longer being mined by the E470 Public <br />Highway Authority. The proposed project will entail transporting inert fill material from Brannan's Pit <br />located west of Nome Street b} conveyor and other hauling method to fdl the gravel pit and restore the <br />ground to an elevation above the normal groundwater table. The conveyor system will be installed in a <br />new 6'x4' precast box cuhert placed under Nome Street. <br />1.2 LOCATION AND SITE DESCRIPTION <br />Sandy Acres Lake lies in the west quadrant of the E-470 and US Highway 85 interchange. The site is <br />generally bound by E -470 on the northeast_ US 85 on the southeast and Nome Street on the west. The <br />surrounding area consists of agricultural land to the east and gravel mining operations to the west. <br />Table 1 below is a summan of the project site and its key existing features.
