Permit M- 1977 -342 (Henderson Mine and Mill)
Proposed TR -22 — Mill TDL Structural Support Refurbishment/Droptower 15 & 16 Removal
difficult. Addition of this access point will further enhance Henderson's ability to inspect this
tower in future years.
Following the completion of the structural refurbishments, the second part of this project will
include the removal of drop towers 15 & 16, the two lowest towers in line. As was the case with
the removal of droptower 17, periodic removal of the energy dissipating drop towers will occur,
so long as TDL pressures can be appropriately managed. An additional set of drawings has also
been included with this request providing detail of the removal of all reinforced concrete pipe
(RCP) associated with the existing TDL. Once the droptowers and jointed RCP is removed, it
will be replaced with 297 feet of 42" HDPE pipe. At the upper end, this will connect to the base
of droptower 14. On the lower end, this will connect to the existing Number 1 cutout structure,
which is used upstream of the 3 Dam TDL infrastructure as an alternate route for tailing slurry
into the upper reaches of the tailing storage facility.
The above changes, once completed, will provide the TDL with additional structural integrity to
allow continued conveyance of tailing slurry through the current, expected life of Henderson
operations.
If you have any comments, questions or concerns regarding this project, please do not hesitate to
contact me at 720 - 942 -3518, Bryce Romig at 720 - 942 -3231 or Miguel Hamarat at 720 -942-
3255.
Regards,
Tim Haynes
Sr. Environmental Engineer
Freeport- McMoRan Copper & Gold
Climax Molybdenum Company
Henderson Mill
19302 County Road 3
Parshall, CO 80468
303 -569- 3221 x2284
tim hayneskfmi.com
CC: B.
