Basil Bear represented the operator, Bowie <br />Resources, LLC, throughout the inspection. <br />Skies were clear, with breezy conditions and mild temperatures. The Loadout, Well Field, and <br />West Mine were inspected on the 20th; the Records, East Mine and Timber Storage Area were <br />inspected the following day. <br />PERMITTING UPDATE: <br />TR -57: On Mar. 12, the Division issued a proposed decision to approve the cessation of <br />subsidence monitoring along the Pitkin Mesa Pipeline. Public notice of the decision was <br />published on Mar. 19, and the period for public comment will extend thru Mar. 31. If no <br />requests for a Board hearing are received, the approval will be formally issued during the first <br />week of April. <br />TR -58: This application, for removal of ponds W -1, W -2 and the Timber Storage Area pond, <br />was received on Mar. 19; the Division will determine its completeness by Mar. 28. <br />AVAILABILITY OF RECORDS — Rule 5.02.4(1): <br />Permitting records were available for review at BRL's office at the Bowie No. 2 Mine <br />facilities. A completed DRMS Availability of Records form is attached to this report. <br />BACKFILL and GRADING — Rule 4.14 <br />Contemporaneous Reclamation 4.14.1; Approximate Original Contour 4.14.2; Highwall <br />Elimination 4.14.1(2)(f); Steep Slopes 4.14.2, 4.27; Handling of Acid and Toxic Materials <br />4.14.3; Stabilization of Rills and Gullies 4.14.6: <br />We discussed future backfilling and grading activities that will take place at the Loadout. <br />The railroad embankment built up to approach the bridge across the N. Fork of the Gunnison <br />River (Photo 1) will need to be removed and redistributed across the disturbed area. <br />Likewise, the material comprising the Black Bridge road overpass (Photo 2) of the railroad <br />will ultimately be used to backfill the Highway Coal Storage Area. <br />Number of Partial Inspection this Fiscal Year: 9 <br />Number of Complete Inspections this Fiscal Year: 3 Page 2 of 11 <br />
