CHRONOLOGICAL HISTORY OF REVEGETATION
No areas were revegetated in 2013 at the Seneca II Mine.
SEDIMENTATION POND SURVEYS
SCC is required by Permit C -80 -005 to monitor sedimentation ponds for sediment storage
capacities on varying schedules. Per page 7 -333 in the PAP, capacity survey at Pond 008 is
required 2 years. Since pond 008 was surveyed in 2012 it will not be resurveyed until 2014.
This schedule provides a sediment yield history and gives advance warning to operations
personnel when sediment clean -out work is required.
In accordance with Rule 4.05.6(11)(c), SCC visually inspects the pond a minimum of quarterly
each year. During these inspections, any drastic change in sedimentation storage or sudden
increase in a sediment delta at the inlet to the pond would be detected which could require
mitigation.
Based on the 2012 surveys, the sediment pond has sufficient sediment storage. Additionally, the
pond has been discharging in compliance with the approved NPDES permit effluent limitations.
Yearly sediment delivery estimates to the pond is considerably less than originally calculated,
since the areas in the watersheds have now been reclaimed and revegetated.
Table 13. 1, Sediment Pond Capacity lists the 2012 surveyed capacities of sediment pond 008:
From the past history of sediment delivery to this pond there is adequate sediment storage
capacity available.
STOCK TANKS
There are no stock tanks in the Seneca II mined/reclaimed. No new stock tanks were constructed
during the 2013 season.
