MINING PLAN
1. General Minim Plan
EXHIBIT D
The access to the site will be via US Highway 50. See Map C -2 for the extents of mining. As
shown on this map, mining will occur in two stages, where the first stage take place in the main
eastern excavation area, and the second stage in the smaller, west excavation area. Table D -1
shows the quantities for each stage.
Table D -1 Mining Area Material Table
Mining
Phase
Acreage
Total Excavation
(CY)
Topsoil
(CY)
Overburden
(CY)
Gravel (CY)
Gravel
(tons)
Time to Mine
(Yrs)
1
53.70
3,665,949
86,636
346,544
3,232,769
4,849,153
24.2
2
6.86
328,433
11,067
44,270
273,096
409,644
2.0
Total
60.56
3,994,382
1 97,703
390,814
3,505,865
5,258,797
26.3
The material volumes described in Table D -1 are based on 12 inches of topsoil, an average of
four feet of overburden, and the remaining depth being sand and gravel. This was determined
during exploration drilling. Note that the areas above only include mining areas. The anticipated
total disturbed area for the operation consists of 72.70 acres. Only 60.56 acres of this is mining,
the rest is the sediment pond, berms, roads, and the office /scale area.
Topsoil and overburden will be stripped in advance of mining. Topsoil and overburden in the
early period of the operation will be used to build the berms. The Processing Berm will comprise
mostly of overburden, with topsoil on the outside to facilitate vegetation. This berm will be
removed during the mine life. The Highway and Signal Peak berms will be built with only
topsoil. These berms are permanent, and therefore will be seeded upon completion with the
permanent rangeland seed mix.
Berm volume requirements can be seen in Table D -3. Topsoil from initial mining will be used on
the processing area berms to improve vegetation on said berms.
Sand and gravel will be directly loaded into the crusher and screener. It will be excavated from
the pit highwall with a front -end loader. Once crushed and screened the sand and gravel will
Tomichi Pit, December 2013 D -1
