March 12, 2014 C- 1982 - 057 /Seneca 11-W Mine JHB
frozen at the onset of the inspection allowing vehicle access part of the way to the northern pit. The western extent
of the northern pit was accessed by snowshoes and by foot. Approximately 3 inches to 12 inches of snow covered
the G Access road. The road appeared to be in good condition and drainage was appropriately routed away from
the road. No areas of ponded water or ice were encountered on the roadway.
The inspection was able to continue on the mine entrance road to Pond 006 and to the shop. We were able to
continue on access road J to approximately topsoil stockpile BB location. At that point the road began to get soft
due to warming temperatures and the snow too deep to proceed safely. Access road J is not plowed.
RECLAMATION SUCCESS - Rule 4.15, Rule 3:
With snow cover on the reclaimed slopes details of the slopes could not be noted. Also the southern pit
was inaccessible. The inspector drove up the gas well road and observed the reclaimed pit east of Pond 6 through
binoculars. No areas of instability were observed.
SLIDES and DAMAGE - Rule 4.12:
Of the reclaimed slopes visible through the snow pack, no new areas of instability were noted. The
previously identified slide north of stock tank 20 appears to show bare areas. SCC should monitor the bare area
this spring and summer to assure it does not become weedy.
DOCUMENTS RECEIVED NA
OTHER (SPECIFY) NA
ENFORCEMENT ACTIONS /COMPLIANCE
No enforcement actions were initiated as a result of this inspection, nor are any pending.
Number of Partial Inspection this Fiscal Year: 6
Number of Complete Inspections this Fiscal Year: 3
Page 3 of 5
