The weather was fine. Several permitting actions are in progress, these are detailed under
the heading GENERAL MINE PLAN COMPLIANCE.
EXCESS SPOIL and DEVELOPMENT WASTE — Rule 4.09
Placement; Drainage Control; Surface Stabilization:
Fills 7, 8 and 9 were all stable and well vegetated, with no signs of significant erosion. A little erosion on
the outside of fill 8 had not been repaired.
HYDROLOGIC BALANCE - Rule 4.05
Drainage Control 4.05.1, 4.05.2, 4.05.3; Siltation Structures 4.05.5, 4.05.6; Discharge Structures 4.05.7, 4.05.10;
Diversions 4.05.4; Effluent Limits 4.05.2; Ground Water Monitoring 4.05.13; Surface Water Monitoring 4.05.13;
Drainage — Acid and Toxic Materials 4.05.8; Impoundments 4.05.6, 4.05.9; Stream Buffer Zones 4.05.18:
Pond 9b was not discharging, but was holding a little water. The water had receded to the point that the
riser was visible, showing a single weep -hole that was just exposed. It appeared that a great deal of sediment had
accumulated. The weir box will also need to be cleaned out and both silt fences below the emergency spillway
need to be repaired.
Pond 8 was holding a little water. The primary riser was completely exposed, showing 4 pairs of weep -
holes. The embankments and weir box were in good shape.
Pond 5 was holding water and would have discharged except for the fact that the primary spillway
appeared to be frozen.
Around the shrub plot there continues to be significant erosion. One particular problem appears to be the
result of road run -off, below a low spot (visible to the right of the rock pile in photo 15). A potential solution that
has been discussed would be to build that section of road up and then divert the run -off, via culverts where
necessary, to pond 8.
No work had been done around Pond 6, which was holding water and discharging by a slow drip.
