3/14/2014
STATE OF
• • • ` • • •
RE: Specific information
State.co.us Executitie Branch Mail - RE: Specific information
Carnahan, Matt (Four Corners Materials) <Matt.Carnahan@oldcastle-
matedals.com>
Tue, Mar 11, 2014 at 12:11
PM
To: "Pickford - DNR, Kate" <kate.pickford @state.co.us >, "tim.cazier @state.co.us" <tim.cazier @state.co.us>
Kate & Tim,
It is important to note that Figure A is listed as "design - typical" of the isolation berm and Figure B as "as-
built". Figure B is shown as response to item # 2 in Kate's list below. The dimensions shown were
measured in the field. Thus the difference in slope ratios is that between the field design and actual.
Figure C is representative of the stormwater retention pond within the isolation berm per item # 4. The
isolation berm is not intended to provide impoundment of stormwater; rather it provides secondary
containment in the unlikely event of the retention pond filling beyond capacity. The berm further acts as
a sound and wind bufferforfuture operations.
The berm is a 500ft. extension of the 1,200ft. "Topsoil or Overburden berm" shown on the original mining
plan (Exhibit C page C -7). This material used to construct the berm will be used in reclamation and will not
remain post- mining. Further, the retention pond may be relocated or altered as necessaryto
accommodate future stormwater management as mining progresses. The proposed post - mining land use
will be commercial / light industrial development and as such, stormwater management plans will be
completely revamped.
I have attached a copy of the final site plan showing the locations of the sections for further clarification.
Also attached is a recently taken oblique aerial photo of the site looking west.
Please let me know what further information you need.
Thanks, Matt
Matt R.
