March 12, 2014 C- 1981 - 019 /Colowyo Coal Mine RDZ <br />discharge and ice were seen in the flume, even though the water level in the pond was below the holes in the <br />primary spillway stand pipe. Colowyo should closely monitor this spillway. There is also a leak in the pipe <br />above the flume that needs to be repaired. <br />GENERAL MINE PLAN COMPLIANCE: <br />The Colowyo Coal Mine was generally found to be in compliance with the mine plan. Tire tracks were <br />seen in undisturbed area near the Potable Water Tank (which is across the haul road from the scoria pit). This <br />needs to be repaired and actions taken to remind staff that this is unacceptable. <br />ROADS — Rule 4.03 Construction 4.03.1(3)/4.03.2(3) Drainage 4.03.1(4)/4.03.2(4) Surfacing and <br />Maintenance4.03.1(5) and (6)/4.03.2(5) and (6) Reclamation 4.03.1(7)/4.03.2(7): <br />Haul roads were in good shape despite the mud from snowmelt runoff. The road along Taylor Creek was <br />not passable above Sump #5 due to mud and ruts from the cleaning operations there. <br />SUPPORT FACILITIES - Rule 4.04: <br />Berms below two areas have been repaired: below the West Pit parking lot and below the water tanks. <br />SIGNS AND MARKERS — Rule 4.02: <br />Buffer Zone signs along Taylor Creek need to be replaced as necessary.
