at 4.40 hours. At the peak of the PMF the inflow to the tailing impoundment is
calculated to be at a rate of 68 percent of the corresponding inflow.
4. Peak flow through the culvert at the Drop Structure is estimated to be between 210 cfs
and 248 cfs depending on the modeling approach taken.
5. The flow volume bypassed is calculated at 244.5 acre -feet, and that discharged into the
tailing impoundment from Areas A, B and C would be 199.4 acre -feet. Under this
scenario, the total volume entering the impoundment including that from Areas D and E
would be 441.7 acre -feet.
6. The calculated depth of flow over the abutment at the Drop Structure and at
Stations 30 +34 and 38 +43 could otentiall cause erosion at those locations.
P Y
Such
erosion could also change the flow distributions calculated and the resulting volume
entering the impoundment. The maximum depths calculated were 3.1 ft at the Drop
Structure and at Station 30 +34 and 4.2 ft at Station 38 +43.
Figure 17 Overflow at Sta. 4 +50
RE FIVE_D
MAR 3 2014
Division of Reclamation,
Mining S Safety
San Luis Project Miller Geotechnical Consultants
Tailing Dam Data Report 33 February 2014
