ameO
Prior to geomembrane deployment on the SLF, Ames proof - rolled, compacted, and
hand - worked the fill surface to be free of desiccation cracks and abrupt grade changes.
AMEC then inspected the surface. Sharp or angular stones greater than 0.75 inches in
diameter were removed from the finished surface. AMEC approved fill surfaces prior to
release to Lone Star for deployment. AMEC and Lone Star provided formal subgrade
approval prior to geomembrane deployment. Subgrade acceptance forms are presented in
Appendix G.
2.6 2011 Phase 5 VLF OSA 2 "d Portion Composite Liner System
The 2011 Phase 5 VLF OSA 2nd Portion is comprised of a primary composite liner, as
follows:
• The primary composite liner system in the 2011 Phase 5 VLF OSA 2nd
Portion consists of a minimum of 12 inches of compacted SLF overlain by
a layer of 80 -mil single -sided textured LLDPE geomembrane (textured
side down).
• The HVSCS is installed over the primary geomembrane. The HVSCS
consists of HVSCS piping and DCF (minimum of 2 feet).
The installation of the primary geomembrane layer in the 2011 Phase 5 VLF OSA 2nd
Portion began in October 2010 and was completed in August 2011. Lone Star installed
approximately 1,390,253 (neat line) square feet of 80 -mil single -sided textured LLDPE
(textured side down) geomembrane to project specifications.
Geomembrane installation for the 2011 Phase 5 VLF OSA 2nd Portion is discussed further in
Section 3.1. Ames anchored geomembrane at the limits of the 2011 Phase 5 VLF OSA 2nd
Portion and temporarily along the 9,910 and 10,060 ft elevation benches in an anchor
trench, with the dimensions of each trench a minimum of 3 feet deep by 1 foot wide. Ames
backfilled the anchor trenches with suitable anchor trench backfill material, or with SLF
material where the future primary geomembrane liner covers the anchor trench. Ames
placed anchor trench backfill in maximum 12- inch -thick compacted lifts. Anchor trench
backfill was compacted with a hand - operated 500 -pound vibratory compactor and "Jumping
Jacks" to project specifications.
AMEC Earth & Environmental, Inc
2000 S.
