Weather conditions at the time of the inspection were clear. Most <br />disturbed areas were clear of snow. <br />The mine is currently producing coal from the B Seam. A train was being loaded at the Unit Trail Loadout. Gob <br />Piles 43 and 42 are active, though Gob Pile 42 has been idled for the winter months. <br />HYDROLOGIC BALANCE - Rule 4.05 <br />Drainage Control 4.05.1, 4.05.2, 4.053; Siltation Structures 4.05.5, 4.05.6; Discharge Structures 4.05.7, 4.05.10; <br />Diversions 4.05.4; Effluent Limits 4.05.2; Ground Water Monitoring 4.05.13; Surface Water Monitoring 4.05.13; <br />Drainage — Acid and Toxic Materials 4.05.8; Impoundments 4.05.6, 4.05.9; Stream Buffer Zones 4.05.18: <br />Ponds B, C, D, F and J held water. Pond K was muddy on the bottom, but it was not apparent whether <br />water was being held in the pond. It was not apparent whether any of the ponds were being discharged. <br />GENERAL MINE PLAN COMPLIANCE: <br />Stockpiled coal on the D Portal bench was approaching the off -spec conveyor height. Care should be <br />taken to ensure that the pile does not encroach up the hill onto areas where topsoil has not been stripped on the <br />back (north/northeast) side of the pile. <br />PROCESSING WASTE /COAL MINE WASTE PILES — Rule 4.10 and 4.11 <br />Drainage Control; Surface Stabilization; Placement: <br />Gob Pile 42 <br />• The pile appeared to be idle, with no evidence of recent activity. <br />• The material end dumped into the drying area on the upper bench did not appear to have been recently <br />worked and was covered by snow. <br />• The lower benches were clear of snow and appeared to be stable. <br />Number of Partial Inspection this Fiscal Year: 12 <br />Number of Complete Inspections this Fiscal Year: 2 <br />Page 2 of 6 <br />
