;%* 14
compacted lift. Moisture conditioning of SLF material was performed using a tandem -axel
water truck and compaction was achieved using a 10 -ton vibratory smooth drum compactor.
Nuclear density testing, moisture verification, and depth checks were performed. All results
met or exceeded project specifications. Test locations were surveyed by Ames.
E) Low Volume Solution Collection System
1) Low Volume Solution Collection Fill ( LVSCF)
Finishing of the LVSCF surface continued in front of the geomembrane deployment using a
skid steer loader.
F) High Volume Solution Collection System
1) High Volume Solution Collection Piping
Placement of the high volume collection system continued at the DCF placement area shown
on Figures 5a and 5b, advancing in front of the placement. CPeP was placed and sandbagged in
accordance with design drawings and project specifications.
2) Drain Cover Fill (DCF)
Drain cover fill (DCF) placement within the Phase 5 VLF continued. DCF was placed in the
area show on Figures 5a and 5b. The DCF was hauled from the processing area to the
placement area using CAT 740 haul trucks. The DCF was placed in a 2 -foot lift using two
CAT D -6 LGP dozers, a CAT D -7 LGP dozer and a CAT D -8 LGP dozer except where haul
routes were established. Haul route consisted of five -foot lifts to be spread into 2 -foot lifts
later. Laborers were present at all times during placement holding the high volume collection
piping in place, removing debris /sandbags, and assisting the dozer operator with lift thickness.
All DCF was placed on previously approved primary geomembrane. AMEC field
representatives monitored the DCF placement constantly.
3) Ore Placement
Ore placement near the high volume solution collection continued using a CAT D -8 dozer. The
ore was hauled from the leading edge of the Phase IV heap placement using 40 -ton articulating
haul trucks loaded by a CAT 385 excavator.
II) Storm Water Management
A) Best Management Practices
Best Management Practices are being observed throughout the VLF Phase 5 Project.
III) Material Processing
A) Drain Cover Fill Process Area
Drain Cover Fill (DCF) was processed during the week.
Location
This Week
Cumulative
Comments
(tons)
(tons)
DCF Process
37,919
210,997
Total
37,919
210,997
VLF Weekly Report WE 10.16.10.13
