ameO
nviror -tai
between stations H8 +00 ( + / -) and H25 +00 ( + / -), approximately 25 to 250 feet right of
centerline; and between stations J14 +00 ( + / -) and J19 +00 ( + / -), approximately 0 to 150 feet
right of centerline. Slope contouring was performed using various CAT dozers. Material
generated as the cut progressed was pushed down the slope.
E) Overburden to Stockpile
1) VLF
Oversize rock within the Phase 5 VLF fill area was removed from fill areas and hauled to the
overburden stockpile area east of the east perimeter road near stations A28 +00 ( + / -) to A36 +00
F) Cut to Fill
1) VLF
A CAT 385 excavator and a John Deere 850 excavator were used to excavate structural fill
material from the following areas: between stations A16 +00 ( + / -) and A18 +00 ( + / -),
approximately 100 to 150 feet left of centerline; between stations E6 +00 ( + / -) and E14 +00
( + / -), approximately 50 feet left of centerline to 200 feet right of centerline; between stations
H18 +00 ( + / -) and H22 +50 ( + / -), approximately 250 to 300 feet left of centerline; between
stations J23 +00 ( + / -) and J28 +50 ( + / -), approximately 100 to 150 feet right of centerline; and
between stations K4 +50 ( + / -) and K8 +00 ( + / -), approximately 150 to 175 right of centerline.
The structural fill material was loaded into CAT 777 haul trucks and hauled to fill areas.
Prior to structural fill placement existing fill areas were ripped and frost was allowed to thaw
or was removed. Existing fill temperature were monitored and found to be above 32 °F before
fill placement. An AMEC representative monitored ambient temperatures on an hourly basis
during fill placement. Fill temperatures were monitored during ambient temperatures below
32 °F and averaged 33 °F to 45 °F.
Structural fill was placed in the following areas: between stations A8 +00 ( + / -) and A22 +00
( + / -), approximately 20 feet left of centerline to 20 feet right of centerline; between stations
C0 +00 ( + / -) and C5 +00 ( + / -), approximately 50 feet left of centerline to 50 feet right of
centerline; and between stations J15 +00 ( + / -) and J22 +00 ( + / -), approximately 150 feet left of
centerline to 20 feet right of centerline. Structural fill was placed in 18" to 24" lifts using
various CAT dozers. Each lift was moisture conditioned using a CAT 773 water truck (when
necessary) and compacted using a 10 -ton vibratory smooth drum compactor, passing over the
entire fill surface at least 4 times (method compaction technique is applicable). Ambient and
fill temperatures were monitored and recorded during fill placement.
Blast pattern drilling was performed between stations J25 +00 ( + / -) and J28 +00 ( + / -),
approximately 50 feet left of centerline to 50 feet right of centerline. No blasting was
performed during the week.
G) Material Processing
1) South Cresson Clay Processing Area
Processing of Soil Liner Fill material continued at the South Cresson Clay Process. A CAT D -8
dozer, a CAT 320 excavator, and a CAT 966 front -end loader were used to process the material.
VLF Weekly Report WE 01.23.10.D.doc
