amec'-'9
CQA ACTIVITIES:
SUMMARY:
The CQA activities performed consisted of observing, documenting and recording the construction
activities of the contractor. Field observation included removal of the existing topsoil stockpile near the
northwest portion of the VLF. In addition, observation of the drilling began on February 5, 2009 to
delineate the extent of underground mine workings located beneath the sediment collection pond and
continued through week ending 2/13.
Night shift continued from February 16 to February 20 with relocation of topsoil from the substation area.
Clay processing was intermittent due to mechanical problems with the clay plant. The second clay plant
(Dump 5 Clay Process Plant) being setup in the VLF was still not operational by the end of the week.
No work was performed on Saturday, February 21. Currently no work activities are planned for Saturdays
but Ames has indicated that Saturday will be used as a make up day in the event of delay or stoppage
during the current planned work periods Monday to Friday. Amec had one staff on site Saturday, February
21 for half a day to start processing of samples collected during the week.
I. Testing Summary
Amec began processing of clay and structural fill samples collected during the week.
One sample was collected for the structural fill being placed along the existing haul road between the 5-
point intersection and the crusher area. The fill is being placed only within the limit of the haul road at
this time to adjust road grading for run -off management. Amec has discussed with Ames that adjacent
areas will require removal of uncontrolled materials, frozen ground and excavation of sediment retention
areas. These ityems were discussed with Ames and CC &V and agreed.
Sample Summary
Description
Comments
SF -1 -R
Structural fill, VLF
SLF -5 -C
Unprocessed clay, in- progress
SLF -4 -C
Unprocessed clay, in- progress
GENERAL PROJECT ITEMS
Summary of Concerns:
No Concerns
Summary of Non - conformances:
None Issued
Summary of Meetings and Discussions:
CC& V.•
Sheet 4 of 8
VLF Weekly Report WE 02.21.09
