October 2001 -8- 003-2182.004
► Caterpillar 375L Excavator; and
► Caterpillar 777 Haul Trucks.
Table 2 presents a summary of the weather during the period of November 26, 2000 through
September 15, 2001 for the External Pond construction.
2.1 Underground Workings Remediation
No underground workings were encountered during the course of this work.
2.2 Site Grading
Prior to Structural Fill placement, Ames conditioned the surface of the fill area. Golder
monitored the preparation of the subgrade to verify that it met project specifications.
Ames graded existing slopes and placed Structural Fill so that final slopes were no steeper than
2.5H:1 V. Prior to fill placement, the in-situ material was scarified to a depth of approximately
6 inches. Structural Fill was compacted with a minimum of four passes of a smooth drum
vibratory compactor.
Ames placed approximately 57,775 cubic yards of Structural Fill for site grading.
2.3 Subgrade Preparation
Prior to Soil Liner Fill placement, Ames compacted the entire surface of the External Pond with
a smooth drum vibratory compactor. The quality of the surface was then maintained until Soil
Liner Fill was placed.
I\00\2182\EXTERNAL POND RPT\FINALDOC Golder Associates
