October 2001 -3- 003-2182.004
unsuitable materials, and that the subgrade surface was compacted prior to
Soil Liner Fill placement.
► Golder visually monitored the placement and compaction of Soil Liner Fill
including observation of depth verification performed by Ames, particle
size, moisture conditioning, and compaction of the fill. Golder performed
in-place density and moisture content testing, and performed CQA
laboratory testing of grain size, moisture content, Atterberg limits,
compaction, and permeability. Golder also provided visual monitoring of
the preparation of the Soil Liner Fill surface for geomembrane
deployment, including verification that the surface was proof-rolled,
compacted, and hand-worked so as to be free of desiccation cracks, abrupt
grade changes, and sharp stones or objects. Golder also observed the
backfill and compaction of the anchor trenches.
► Golder observed the installation of the Leak Detection Collection
Recovery System (LDCRS), which includes the pipes and Leak Detection
Fill. Golder visually verified that the sump was excavated to the minimum
required dimensions, and the LDCRS pipes and fill were installed
according to the plans. Golder performed CQA laboratory testing of grain
size, Atterberg limits, and moisture content of the Leak Detection Fill
placed in the Sump.
► Golder observed installation of Base Course over the geomembrane placed
on the east bench. Golder performed CQA laboratory testing for grain size
and Atterberg limits on Base Course placed.
► Golder monitored the ambient air temperatures and the temperature of all
fills, including Soil Liner Fill, in accordance with project specifications.
1.2.2 CQA/CQC Monitoring of Geosynthetics Installation
Golder provided CQC and CQA monitoring of geosynthetics used for the External Pond. CQC
services provided by Golder consisted of performing geosynthetics inventory and checking
quality control certifications prior to geosynthetics deployment. Golder performed
geosynthetics CQA activities in accordance with the CQA Plan. Geosynthetics CQA activities
performed included:
I\00\2182TXMRNALPOND"WINALDOC Golder Associates
