January 24, 2000 -2- 993-2011
with the 1999 Phase III VLF Construction Specifications. Results and approximate
locations of field density testing performed on Backfill and SLF are presented in
Attachment B. Although no Permeability testing was specifically performed on SLF placed
at the 1999 ADR Expansion, Golder is presenting representative test result from 1999
Phase III VLF Construction testing in Attachment B.
Golder observed the deployment, seaming, defect repair, and testing (Destructive and Non-
Destructive) of approximately 19,000 square feet of 80-mil single sided textured LLDPE
geomembrane deployed by Poly-flex for the 1999 ADR Expansion construction.
Geomembrane was supplied and tested in accordance with the 1999 Phase III VLF
specification and was placed on the interior of the ADR Expansion Facility to form a single
lined containment sump and on the exterior of the ADR Expansion to construct a composite
liner system that connected to the existing Phase I composite liner system. CQA
observation records and test results for the installation of geomembrane are presented in
Attachment C.
Golder visually monitored the placement of approximately 750 cubic yards of Drain Cover
Fill placed over geomembrane installed on the exterior of the 1999 ADR Expansion.
Golder observed that DCF was placed a minimum of two feet thick, that no geomembrane
wrinkles were folded, and no unsuitable material was present in the fill.
Relevant information required by the Phase III VLF Construction Specifications for the
placement of "Fill" and geomembrane that is not presented in the attachments, such as
ambient air temperature, geomembrane installer qualifications, etc., can be found in the
1999 Phase III CQA Certification Report prepared by Golder titled, "Cresson Project
Quality Assurance Monitoring and Test Results, 1999 Phase III Valley Leach Facility
Teller County, Colorado".
The earthworks and geosynthetics observed by Golder for the 1999 ADR Expansion
construction performed by ISI, Ames, and Poly-flex was in accordance with the applicable
CEntry and 1999 Phase III VLF Construction Specifications for the Cresson Project.
Golder appreciates the ongoing opportunity to provide engineering and CQA services for
the Cresson Project. Please contact the undersigned with any questions.
Sincerely,
GOLDER ASSOCIATES INC.
eniorZrojecMtManagerS - Mining
JFL/llr
1:\9%2011\1260\ADR\2011ADR.DOC Golder Associates
