January 24, 2000 -2 993-2011
amount of geomembrane being anchored (approximately 1000 square feet), Golder found
this solution to be acceptable.
Golder observed the deployment, seaming, defect repair, and testing (Destructive and Non-
Destructive) of approximately 1,063 square feet of 80-mil single sided textured LLDPE
geomembrane deployed by Poly-flex for the LOB liner extension. Geomembrane was
supplied and tested in accordance with the 1999 Phase III VLF specifications and was
placed to complete the composite liner system. CQA observation records and test results
for the installation of geomembrane are presented in Attachment B.
Golder visually monitored the placement of approximately 80 cubic yards of Drain Cover
Fill placed over geomembrane installed at the LOB area. Golder observed that DCF was
placed a minimum of two feet thick, that no geomembrane wrinkles were folded, and no
unsuitable material was present in the fill.
Relevant information required by the Phase III VLF Construction Specifications for the
placement of SLF and geomembrane that is not presented in the attachments such as
ambient air temperature, geomembrane installer qualifications, etc., can be found in the
1999 Phase III CQA Certification Report prepared by Golder titled, "Cresson Project
Quality Assurance Monitoring and Test Results, 1999 Phase III Valley Leach Facility
Teller County, Colorado".
Other than the geomembrane anchor trench, the earthworks and geosynthetics observed by
Golder for the LOB area construction performed by Ames and Poly-flex was in accordance
with the applicable 1999 Phase III VLF Construction Specifications for the Cresson
Project. Golder considers the anchor trench configuration constructed in this area suitable.
Golder appreciates the ongoing opportunity to provide engineering and CQA services for
the Cresson Project.
