Fertilizer Application Details and Soil Fertility Testing Reports
Work consisted exclusively of pre - production activities and initial boxcut excavation. No
areas have been backfilled or reclaimed as of end of year 2013. No fertilizing was done
on the NHN Permit area and no Soil Fertility Testing Reports were created in 2013. Soil
Fertility Testing for irrigated pasture will take place when the topsoil is initially placed
and then in years 3, 5, 7 and 9 after seeding (Sec. 2.05.4(2)(e) pg. 26 paragraphl &2). Soil
Fertility Testing for dryland pasture will take place when the topsoil is initially placed
and then in years 3, 7 and 9 after seeding (Sec. 2.05.4(2)(e) pg. 33). These reports will be
provided here in future Reclamation Reports when required.
Grazing
No grazing occurred on the NHN permit in 2013. As the mine moves forward and more
area has been reclaimed, items such as grazing, irrigation, and hay production will be
tracked with Farm Management Reports filled out by the entity managing the farming
and grazing; whether it be WFC personnel directly or a separate contracted party. The
NHN Permit states that grazing on Irrigated Pasture will not occur on years that initial
planting of alfalfa seed mix occurs (mix #7) which is typically years 1 and 7 (Sec.
2.05.4(2)(e) pg. 26). For Dryland Pasture, grazing will not occur until the interim
reclamation monitoring data shows that reseeded plants are adequately established and
then these areas will be grazed only at a stocking rate where only half the forage
produced is consumed (Sec. 2.05.4(2)(e) pg. 34).
Wildlife Monitoring Reports
Reclamation activities have not yet begun on the NHN Permit. No Wildlife Monitoring
Reports were created in 2013. As stated in NHN Permit Section 2.05.6(2) Fish and
Wildlife Plan, a Wildlife Monitoring Report would only be created if WFC chose the
option of having the areas designated as potential Burrowing Owl habitat as shown on
Permit Map 2.04.11 -1 monitored during the period that owls would be present (March
15 -July 31). Other options to mitigate potential conflicts between mining operations and
Burrowing Owls, as described in NHN Permit Section 2.05.6(2), would not require the
creation of a full Wildlife Monitoring Report. In the circumstance that a Wildlife
Monitoring Report is created, it will be provided here in future Reclamation Reports.
M:\DATA \Word\NHN Ann Rec Reports \2013\NHN 2013 Annual Reclamation Report.doc
-5—
