Cripple Creek & Victor Gold Mining Company
PSES Pipe Rack Liner Extension
Final Report
Quality Assurance Monitoring & Test Results
February 4, 2014
amecI9
Prior to the 80 -mil double -sided textured LLDPE geomembrane arrival to site, AMEC
performed one conformance test at a frequency of one test per 106,260 square feet.
The minimum specified testing frequency of one test per 150,000 square feet was
exceeded. Testing frequency was based on AMEC's inventory of the 80 -mil double -
sided textured LLDPE geomembrane. Conformance testing for the geomembrane
used to construct the PSES Pipe Rack Liner Extension met specifications.
Conformance test results are presented in Appendix K.
6.2 Deployment Monitoring
Geomembrane panel deployment monitoring performed by AMEC included:
• Observation of panel surface condition and panel overlap
• Assignment of panel numbers
• Verification of factory roll number and receipt of complete certification prior to
allowing deployment
• Measurement of sheet thickness
• Documentation of deployed panel lengths
• Development of panel layout record drawing
Prior to the deployment of GCL, AMEC and ECA verified that the random fill subgrade
was free of soft spots, protrusions, angular particles, abrupt grade changes, and loose
soil. AMEC and ECA also verified the subgrade surface was free of desiccation
cracks. Where the surface of the subgrade did not meet specifications, Ames repaired
the area to meet project specifications. ECA provided written certification of subgrade
acceptance prior to the placement of GCL. The subgrade acceptance certificates are
presented in Appendix G.
GCL was placed over the approved random fill subgrade by ECA. AMEC observed
the placement of the GCL to ensure that appropriate overlap was achieved and that
the GCL was placed in accordance with the Technical Specifications.
AMEC assigned each geomembrane panel a number for this project, they were
designated as P1 through P13.
AMEC marked the panel designation and roll number directly on each panel after it
was deployed. The geomembrane record drawing, showing the PSES Pipe Rack
Liner Extension's geomembrane panel layout and destructive testing is presented as
Sheet 2 of 2 in Appendix A.
During geomembrane deployment, AMEC measured sheet thickness with digital
calipers. The sheet thickness was measured at five random locations along each
edge of each geomembrane panel. The average thickness specified for the 80 -mil
geomembrane was 80 mils. Project specifications for 80 -mil geomembrane required
13
