Mr. Liesveld
Page 12
February 7, 2014
6.3.3 Exhibit C — Mining Plan
2. The Applicant has stated that 0.8 acres of the permit area will consist of setbacks and access
roads. Please clarify is there will be additional roads constructed to access the site which are
not currently present.
3. As required by Rule 6.3.3(h), please specify how much water will be used for dust control.
4. The Applicant has stated that a stormwater management plan would be prepared if there was
the potential for stormwater to leave the site. Based on the topography surrounding the mine
site, it would appear there is the potential for stormwater to flow through the site from the
upland areas to the north. Please provide an explanation of how stormwater will be managed
at the site.
6.3.4 Exhibit D — Reclamation Plan
5. The Applicant has stated that weed control will be implemented at the site. Please indicate if
there are noxious weeds present on site. In addition, please provide a weed control plan. The
weed control plan should include the following:
a) A list of potential species of noxious weeds that may occur on the site.
b) A description of the various control measures that will be employed such as mechanical,
chemical, biological control or a combination of the three methods.
c) Provide a monitoring plan that specifies how often the Operator will monitor the site and
the actions that will be taken if noxious weeds are detected.
d) Provide a post- treatment monitoring plan to evaluate the effectiveness of the control
measures.
e) Provide a commitment that the weed control plan will be implemented for the life of the
mine.
6. The Applicant has stated the reclaimed area will be used by the landowner to park various
pieces of equipment. Please verify that the equipment which will be stored in this area is not
associated with the quarry operation for DRMS File No. M- 1978 -332.
7. The Applicant has stated in Exhibit B that the reclaimed floor elevation will be 3 — 50 feet
below the existing ground elevation. The Reclamation Plan states that the pit floor will slope
from the toe of the highwall to the face of the road. Please clarify if there will be a depression
where the pit floor is or if the pit floor will be level with road.
8. The Applicant has stated that mining will progress into a hillside on the north side of the
permit area and will result in a 45 — 50 foot highwall. Please specify the existing grade of the
hillside that will be mined into.
