AA Natural Soda, Inc. 2013 Project Status Report & Annual Plan of Development
' 6.3.3 Reclamation Fencing
1 -3A and 94 -1 M well sites were fenced in late fall 2013 to exclude livestock grazing.
Repair and maintenance was performed, as necessary, on existing fences. Fencing is
utilized to keep livestock and wildlife out of the reclamation areas.
' 6.3.4 Precipitation
Precipitation gauges are located near the plugged and abandoned well 90 -5 (tipping
gauge) and near monitoring well EX -2 (V- gauge). Based on perennial vegetation, which is
an indicator of long -term precipitation, the "normal" precipitation for the NSI site is 12 -14
inches for the calendar year. The distribution of precipitation is important for reclamation.
Table 8 provides a composite of precipitation from the two gauges at NSI mine site:
Table 8: Annual Precipitation in inches
MonthNear
2003
2004
2005
2006
2007
2008
2009
2010
2011
2012
2013
Jan
0.49
0.40
1.30
0.82
1.50
0.76
0.65
0.40
0.18
0.18
0.25
Feb
0.74
0.58
0.89
0.44
1.47
1.90
0.50
0.20
0.15
1.15
0.30
Mar
1.22
0.17
1.21
1.06
1.03
1.80
0.60
1.45
1.25
0.30
0.50
Apr
1.42
1.07
1.24
0.25
0.78
1.25
0.75
0.25
1.25
0.40
1.35
May
0.60
0.39
0.82
0.20
0.47
0.45
1.25
0.05
0.95
0.14
1.05
Jun
0.50
0.81
3.15
0.27
1.25
1.05
1.25
0.95
0.00
0.06
0.35
Jul
0.40
0.80
0.47
1.13
1.75
0.20
0.30
0.45
0.23
0.43
1.40
Aug
0.64
0.85
1.48
1.45
1.45
0.30
1.70
0.40
0.00
0.86
0.26
Sep
0.91
1.39
1.40
2.25
1.85
0.50
0.80
0.70
0.13
0.36
2.89
Oct
0.60
1.15
1.00
2.50
1.15
0.43
0.50
1.08
0.87
0.58
1.35
Nov
0.91
0.95
0.78
2.50
1.25
0.30
0.30
0.35
0.05
0.28
1.30
Dec
1.10
0.31
0.37
0.90
2.80
0.70
0.70
1.67
0.32
0.83
0.17
Annual
Totals
9,53
8.87
14.11
13.77
16.75
9.64
9.3
7.95
5.38
5.57
11.17
6.3.5 Vegetation Monitoring Results
See Appendix C for 2013 Vegetation Monitoring Reclamation Status Report prepared
by Rusty Roberts.
6.4 Deer Road Kill Study
Per the monitoring requirement from the BLM, NSI compiled deer road kill data throughout
2013 for vehicles traveling to and from the mine site.
