Baseline Hydrologic Monitoring Plan — Hansen Project 52
5.3 Domestic Water Monitoring Procedures
Domestic water samples are collected, handled, and analyzed in accordance with the SOPS for domestic
water monitoring provided in Appendix H. Although domestic wells are not constructed according to
standard environmental practices for monitoring well drilling and construction, water samples from these
wells will be collected, handled, and analyzed in the same manner as other groundwater samples to ensure,
to the extent possible, the precision, accuracy, reliability, and repeatability of the data collected.
All instruments will be decontaminated and calibrated according to manufactures specifications at the
frequency specified in the QAPP (Appendix G). Calibration procedures are provided in Appendix A.
Sample collection containers and filtration receptacles will be thoroughly decontaminated prior to use at
each well according to decontamination procedures provided in in Appendix B and ASTM specification D
5008 -90.
A general site inspection will be performed at each domestic well and comments regarding site conditions
will be recorded on the field sampling sheet. The well will be purged for at least 15 minutes, as described
in Appendix H. The pH, specific conductance, temperature, dissolved oxygen, and ORP of discharged
water will be monitored during purging and recorded on the field sampling data sheet (Figure 16). Samples
for dissolved metals and TDS will be field filtered (0.45 um) and acidified, as specified in the QAPP
(Appendix G). Domestic water quality samples will be stored on ice and sent by express courier to ACZ
Laboratories, a NELAC - certified analytical laboratory.
Figure 16.
