Baseline Hydrologic Monitoring Plan — Hansen Project 13
intermittent streams and springs on the southeast side of Waugh Mountain. Flow rates for Middle
Tallahassee Creek vary based on the sampling site. Middle Tallahassee Creek upstream of the Hansen
Deposit (at station SW11 -MT) has been consistently dry when monitored from 2011 — 2013. The creek
was flowing at SW11 -MT during only one of eleven recent sampling events (I" Quarter 2011). The
maximum flow rate for Middle Tallahassee Creek was 0.95 cfs at station SW14 -MT in June, 2010. Since
3rd Quarter 2011, Middle Tallahassee Creek has been dry at SW14 -MT. The average stream gradient
within the Project boundary is 30 ft/mi.
2.2.2.6 Hall Gulch
Hall Gulch is a very small perennial stream that flows down steep ravines off of an east trending ridge of
Waugh Mountain. In the southern extent of the Project boundary, the stream gradient decreases as it enters
an open riparian area near the confluence with Middle Tallahassee Creek. The stream is fed by a system of
very small, spring -fed, intermittent streams. Flow rates for Hall gulch show a seasonal trend with high
flow during spring and low flow during fall. The maximum flow rate for Hall Gulch was 0.26 cfs at station
SW19 -HG in June 2010. The average stream gradient is 60 ft/mi within the Project boundary.
2.2.2.7 Fear Creek
Fear Creek is a small perennial stream that flows from the saddle between Loco and Burris Mountains. The
stream flows down a steep narrow canyon until it enters a broad open area near the Project boundary. The
stream is fed by a system of steep ravines off of the slopes of Loco and Burris Mountains. The maximum
flow rate for Fear Creek was 0.86 cfs measured in March 2013. Recent data collected from 2011 to 2013
indicates that Fear Creek has very low flow ( <0.05 efs) during the summer, fall, and winter, and higher
flow during the spring.
The sampling site for Fear Creek is located '/2 of a mile upstream from its entrance to the Project boundary.
This location is one mile upstream from the confluence with Middle Tallahassee Creek. The average
stream gradient is 40 ft/mi within the Project boundary.
Table 4.
