Cripple Creek & Victor Gold Mining Company
Laboratory Liner Extension
Final Report
Quality Assurance Monitoring & Test Results
January 14, 2014
ameO
• Observation and documentation of non - destructive vacuum testing of extrusion
seams and repairs.
5.2.1 Conformance Testing
The geomembrane liner was manufactured by GSE. Samples were sent to
TRI /Environmental, Inc., a geosynthetic laboratory in Austin, Texas, for conformance
testing. Geomembrane rolls were not used on the project unless approved by AMEC
based on conformance test results.
The geomembrane used was manufactured along with the Mill Site Earthworks
geomembrane. Prior to the geomembrane arrival to site, TRI performed conformance
tests on the shipment of liner of the rolls used for the Laboratory Liner Extension. All
80 -mil single -sided texture LLDPE geomembrane used to construct the Laboratory
Liner Extension composite liner system met specifications. Conformance test results
are presented in Appendix I.
5.2.2 Deployment Monitoring
Geomembrane panel deployment monitoring performed by AMEC included:
• Observation of panel surface condition and panel overlap
• Assignment of panel numbers
• Verification of factory roll number and receipt of complete certification prior to
allowing deployment
• Measurement of sheet thickness
• Documentation of deployed panel lengths
• Development of panel layout drawing
AMEC and Lone Star verified the subgrade and GCL surface and both were accepted
by AMEC and Lone Star. Lone Star provided written certification of subgrade
acceptance and GCL acceptance. The subgrade and GCL acceptance certificates are
presented in Appendix F and Appendix H.7.
AMEC assigned each geomembrane panel a number. Geomembrane panels
deployed in the Laboratory Liner Extension were numbered P -1 through P -3.
AMEC marked the panel designation directly on each panel after it was deployed. The
geomembrane panel layouts are presented in Appendix A.
During geomembrane deployment, AMEC measured sheet thickness with a digital
caliper. The liner thickness was measured at five random locations along one edge of
each geomembrane panel. The average thickness specified for the 80 -mil
geomembrane was 85 mils. Project specifications for 80 -mil geomembrane required
sAprojects \1125m -cc &v lab liner extension\h2 - design \lab liner extension \roc report\lab liner roc report.docx 10
