disposal area. The refuse pile was covered with four feet of non -toxic cover. See drawing D -4 -16, Final Reclamation East End of Mine Site, for the final contours of the refuse disposal area. The permanent diversion ditches for the refuse pile are shown on D -4 -16. Roads County Road 108 (North Thompson Creek Road) provides access to the mine site from Carbondale. This road is maintained by the County up to the cross country ski area. Beyond that point the county road receives very little maintenance and is impassable during most winter months. The haul road and truck dump site that cross the Crystal River Ranch are permanent and were not reclaimed. This improved road and truck dump site are used by the landowner to improve its ranching operation. The road and truck dump site including ditches, berms, fencing, topsoil piles, landscaping, trees, guardrail, culverts and other permanent features incident thereto and within the right -of -way of the haul road are considered facilities that support the postmining land use of pastureland. See page 4 -95 and 4 -100 for more details. The dirt track road along the trace of the reclaimed conveyor corridor was permanently retained to comply with a landowner request (see page 4 -98d). The dirt track road is utilized by the landowner to access and maintain its land south of County Road 109. This road supports the rangeland postmining land use. The road (light use road /trail) to the fan shaft, which traverses Stoney Ridge, the bridge across North Thompson Creek, and fan shaft site were also permanently retained as per landowner requests (see pages 4 -98d and 4 -98i). The road and bridge are considered by the landowners to benefit the property and benefit wildlife. The road /trail supports the unimproved range postmining land use. An road provides access to the No. 1 Mine water treatment system. The access road is shown on drawing D -2 -5. This road will permanently remain in place.
