In those instances where the post- mining land use is for industrial, residential, or
commercial purposes and such use is not reasonably assured, a plan for
revegetation shall be submitted. Appropriate evidence supporting such
reasonable assurance shall be submitted.
The proposed post- mining land use is to be pastureland. As can be
noted in the aerial photo or the soil map, most of the land the north,
south, and west is rugged and not farmable. All of that adjoining
property is rangeland, as is the Barton property. Property to the east is
more suitable for farming. The plan for revegetation on the subject
property assumes the land will be used as rangeland after adequate
growth occurs. NRCS representatives, who regularly review and make
such recommendations, have prepared the re- seeding plan.
11. Please clarify if the reclaimed slopes will be mined to the final maximum gradient
of 3H: 1V or mined at a steeper slope and backfilled to achieve the reclaimed slope.
Future mining of the expanded acreage will be mined to the final maximum
gradient of 3H: 1V to achieve the reclaimed slope.
12. Please specify the anticipated minimum depth or a range of depth for those
areas where topsoil will be replaced.
Current topsoil at the site is approximate 4 inches in depth. The intent
will be to continue stockpiling topsoil before mining begins in new areas.
We would anticipate returning approximately 4 inches of topsoil over the
site before final reclamation efforts take place.
13. The Applicant states weed control will be maintained by the Operator or
retaining services of the Logan County Weed District spraying service.
If the site will not be included in the Logan County program, please submit a
weed control and management plan in accordance with Section 3.1.10 (6) of
the Rule. This plan should be developed in consultation with the county
extension agency, or weed control district office and should include specific
control measures to be applied, a schedule for when control measures will be
implemented and a post- treatment monitoring plan.
The property is included in the Logan County Pest Control District. The
following except is attached from the District's website:
