Liberty Mining; LLC
DRMS 110 -d Permit Application
October 2013
> 1.4 is the recommended parameter for safety factor of permanent slopes, so the
designed waste rock pile is considered stable.
C (1.a) Estimated Start Date and Ending Date
The Liberty Mine occupancy is dependent on the approval of the mining permit, market price of
ore and ore processing costs. The anticipated life of the mine is expected to be 10 years.
The Liberty Mine will normally operate for 8 to 12 hours per day, 5 days per week. Based upon
demand; the mine may operate up to six days per week for a maximum of 12 hours per day.
Due to BLM regulations, the remote location of the mine site, and lack of winter maintenance of
county roads used to access the mine, mining activities may be suspended during winter
months. Furthermore, mine operations may be intermittent contingent on ore milling costs and
market prices.
C (1.b) Salvaged Topsoil for Reclamation
Prior to commencing mining activities, any available topsoil will be removed from the mining
operations pad, stockpiled on site, and seeded for erosion protection. Due the geologic setting
and previous mining at the site, very little topsoil is anticipated to be available in the proposed
mining operations area. An existing topsoil stockpile is located on the southwest corner of the
mine operations pad within the existing footprint of the previously disturbed mining area. The
stockpile contains approximately 200 cubic yards of salvaged topsoil from previous mining
operations. This stockpile will be relocated to the northern portion of the permit area along with
any additional salvaged topsoil. During mining operations, disturbance of the existing topsoil
stockpile will be minimal. Topsoil will be stockpiled so that the last segment of soil stockpiled
will be the first to be placed during reclamation. Any relocated or augmented topsoil will be
stockpile and stabilized with vegetation through seeding within fourteen days of completion of
the topsoil removal and stockpiling.
C (1.c) Removal of Overburden and Waste Rock for Primary (Existing) Decline
and Secondary Decline
The existing mine portal and decline measures approximately 180 feet in length. An additional
320 feet of decline will be needed to reach the ore zone. The estimated quantity of waste rock
and overburden to be removed to reach the ore body is approximately 7,134 tons based on the
following calculations:
Mine Dimension (L *W *H)
• Rock Density (Sandstone @ 145 lbs. /ft)
• 2000 lbs. /ton
Primary Decline
[(10: * 12' * 320') * 145 lbs. /ft2 ) / 2000 lbs. = 2,784 tons
Secondary Portal and Decline
This secondary portal will be located 50' north of the existing portal
Liberty Mining, LLC Moab, Utah SMA Ref. 5821897 Page 17
