RE: Jamaco Pit; DRMS File No. M- 2010 -082; Adequacy Review No. I (AMOI)
REPLY
6.3.1 Exhibit A — Legal Description and Location Map
1. As required by Rule 6.3.1(2), please provide the coordinates for the mine site
entrance. Coordinates may be specified as latitude and longitude in degrees,
minutes and seconds or in decimal degrees to an accuracy of at least five decimal
places.
The entrance from the "unmaintained county road" is located at the following
coordinates: 39.316956 °, - 103.3372070
6.3.2 Exhibit B — Site Description
No comment.
6.3.3 Exhibit C — Mining Plan
2. The area to be added to the permit boundary is adjacent to Hackberry Creek. As
required by Rule 6.3.3, please provide a description of how stormwater will be
managed at the site and will be prevented from entering Hackberry Creek.
The road foreman for that district advised me that the mining that will take place in
the Jamaco will be below the level of the Hackberry creek. This would make any
storm water discharge unlikely.
3. The Applicant has stated that the topsoil stockpiles will be seeded to prevent
erosion. Please specify the seed mix to be used on the topsoil stockpiles; the seed
mix should be reported as pounds of pure live seed per acre.
Please see email from Brian Johnson (NRCS) regarding seeding rates.
4. The Applicant has stated that the ranch road will be bladed to an approximate
width of twenty feet. Please note that roads which are new or substantially
improved must be included as part of the permitted acreage per Rule 6.3.3(g).
General maintenance of a road is acceptable; however, widening a road would be
considered a substantial improvement. Please respond.
The submittal about widening the road was made with the initial application with a
different Commissioner, Road Foreman, and Land Use Administrator. The current
Road Foreman has informed me that he has no intention of widening the road, and
