Wade Wymore was available to escort us
at both the King I and King II sites.
Skies were clear, and temperatures were warm. Ground conditions at the mine were
considerably drier than what was observed eight days earlier on the September 23rd inspection.
ROADS—Rule 4.03
Construction 4.03.1(3) / 4.03.2(3); Drainage 4.03.1(4) / 4.03.2(4); Surfacing and Maintenance
4.03.1(5) and (6)/4.032(5) and (6); Reclamation 4.03.1(7)/4.03.2(7):
• The road surfaces at King II were dry, and in good condition.
• At King I, it appeared that partial regrading of the haul road to the top of the refuse pile had
recently taken place. The surface of the road was improved somewhat over what was
observed on Sept. 23, but the roadside ditches and drainage had not yet been fully
reestablished.
SUPPORT FACILITIES - Rule 4.04:
• Construction of the new office / bath house at King II is nearing completion. Mr. Wymore
said that the area south of the new building will eventually be used for parking, and that mine
materials and equipment will be moved to the area currently occupied by the temporary
office trailers.
• The Truck Loadout Conveyor ("00" on Map King II-007) delivers coal from the Coal Stack
Tube #2 stockpile to the storage silo at the truck scales. The conveyor was not in operation
at the time of our inspection, so Mr. Wymore opened the gate to the tunnel, allowing us to
walk in. He explained the functions of the belt, the rollers, and the dust collection system.
Number of Partial Inspection this Fiscal Year: 3
Number of Complete Inspections this Fiscal Year: I Page 2 of 9
