Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety
September 27, 2013
Page 2
other mining operations and the cessation of irrigation in the general area that has significantly
reduced return flows to the alluvium.
While Greeley has successfully implemented its short-term solution to provide an alternative
source of water to support the historic well water use during mine dewatering this irrigation
season, Greeley also has plans for a long -term solution if necessary.. Greeley believes that the
most effective way to support well water use on the property is to construct a new potable water
line to the Rodman property to provide the property with water during Greeley's 25th Avenue
Site dewatering operations. Weather permitting, Greeley plans to construct this water line by
April 1, 2014 and provide water from the line, without cost to the Rodmans, until dewatering
activities at the 25t Avenue Site cease, a slurry wall is constructed around the 25th Avenue site,
or until water levels in the Rodmans' wells rise to a level that allows for the Rodmans to assume
historic irrigation practices with the wells. While generally receptive to this idea, the Rodmans
wanted to look into this proposal further and may have additional specific questions for Greeley
or your office.
Once again, we appreciate the opportunity to provide DRMS additional information.
