MINING PLAN EXHIBIT D (CONT)
ended. In some areas, a near vertical face exists on this old
mining face. On the east end we will blend the old slope with
new east facing slope in the northeast corner of the site but no
reclamation will be done on the area outside the new permit area.
Mining started on this old face in 2009 and worked to the south
creating a -level area which is now used as the Plant
Site /stockpile area.
The site is currently used as a mine /rangeland and consists
of a gravel terrace paralleling the southern side of the Huerfano
River valley. The usable materials on this site ranges from 5 to
30+ feet deep. The soil covering the gravel averages 0 to 8
inches deep with a layer of overburden ranging from 20 to 60
inches deep.
The northern boundary line starts at the northeast corner of
the existing 110 permit and follows a southeasterly bearing line
to a point on the property fence. The fence is the eastern
boundary of the Ted Franciscotti Pit #1 and is the property
ownership boundary on that side. It follows this fence line to
the southwest corner. The line then turns northeasterly to a
point on the west boundary line of the Orphan View Gravel Pit and
then returns following the original permit line to the NE corner
point. Within this area is the existing 110 permit area, shown
on the Pre - Mining Plan Map as a green line.
The road was constructed of gravel with graded runoff
ditches on each side. It is 20 feet wide with a slight crown to
allow for drainage. Any runoff from the road will be retained on
site and allowed to soak into the ground or evaporate. The road
will be maintained as needed.
SOILS AND OVERBURDEN
The SOILS MAP in EXHIBIT I shows the soil types as delineated
by the National Resource Conservation Service (NRCS) obtained
from the internet WSS web site. The information contained in
Exhibit I/J will provide background levels for the site as
reclamation begins on the entire area.
There are 3 types of soils found on the site. These soils
are typical throughout the Huerfano River valley. They have no
unusual qualities. The three types of natural soils are desig-
nated as map units: 17 -Fort Collins loam, 1 to 3% slopes, 62-
Otero sandy loam, 1 to 9% slopes, and 77- Schamber- Midway complex,
7
