EXHIBIT D
MINING PLAN AND TIMETABLE
LOCATION
This is an open pit mine located approximately 8.7 miles
north northwest of Walsenburg, Colorado on County Road 613. From
Walsenburg take I -25 north, 8.23 miles to exit 59 (Butte Road
Exit); the west frontage road at this exit provides access to
County Road 613 just north of the off ramp. Take CR 613 west 1.5
miles to a farm road on the south; follow this farm road approxi-
mately 300 feet to the mine entrance. Mining access will be via
this existing road that is a owned by the landowner to access his
property from CR 613. It is currently 20 feet wide and the
location as shown on the map exhibits supplied with this applica-
tion. Periodic grading will be necessary to keep the road in its
present condition. It will remain after mining is complete. The
coordinates of the entrance are 37 044142.41 11N, 104 051145.28 "W.
Please refer to EXHIBIT B - VICINITY MAP for the property configu-
ration and the relationships to surrounding geological features.
CURRENT CONDITIONS
Map Exhibit C shows the outline of the Affected Lands; the
touching landowners; the 200 foot ownership; structures; current
topography, and hydrologic features of the property. A portion
of the land is presently being mined, under a M.L.R.B. permit M-
2009 -0027, on the north side, and a material processing site is
located in the existing mine area. Surrounding property uses
include mining on the east and west. The area along the south
side is used by the property owner as rangeland and to the north
across County Road 613 the property owners irrigate grasslands
along the Huerfano River. The eastern mine is permitted to
Huerfano County under permit M- 2013 -012 and the western mine is
operated by Frontier Paving & Redi -Mix under permit M- 2007 -006.
North of the site between the county road and the gravel
face is an area covering 7.52 acres that was mined pre -law. We
suspect the material from this area was used when I -25 was built.
Very little reclamation was done on the site and there appears to
be little or no salvageable topsoil on the old mine area. We
expect to re- disturb approximately 4.44 acres ± of this area as
shown on the Pre - Mining Plan map, Map Exhibit C. A north facing
unreclaimed slope was left when the pre -law mining operation
C.
