Historic (1950 through 2002) acreage and corresponding crop types were estimated for
each structure based on the 1998 acreage numbers and historic County Agricultural
Statistics, as described in the Appendix A, Rio Grande Historic Crop Consumptive Use -
Annual Time Series Parameters memorandum. Irrigated acreage parcels and crop types
for 1998 and historic (1950 through 2002) county acreage by crop type were stored in
HydroBase. As shown in Figure 8 irrigated acreage was estimated to change from a low
of approximately 479,594 in 1951 to a high of 701,200 acres in 2000.
