a permit application under. Section 404 of the Cl",an. Water Act (33 use 1344).
The application is to place fill into waters of the United States associated
with the tion of a t 06S the Alamosa River just
upstream of Terrace !;lam. near Monte Vista, Colorado, Application No. CO-O

Name of Applicant, Terrace Irrigation Company, P. O. Box 667 ,Monte Vista,
Colorado, 81144.

Location, The proposed projeot involves work in the Alamosa River just upstream
of Terraoe Dam, approximately 17 miles southwest of Monte Vista, Conejos County,
Colorado, Section 15, Township 36M, Range 6E (Latitude 370 21'51" N, Longitude
1060 17'23"W).

Description of Work: The proJ;>osed project involves constructing a temporary soil
fill cofferdam aoross the channel of the Alamosa River. The cofferdam will
regulate the riverflow and allow the repair of the TeiraQe Dam outlet valves
and the cleaning of the outlet channel. The temporary cofferdam will contain
approximately 6,000 cubic yards offill material obtained from the reservoir
bed. The Terrace Reservoir will be drained prior to construotion of the coffer-
dam and the cofferdam will be breached or removed upon completion of the projeot.
The work is schedUled to commence in October 1980 and be comple~ed in May19Bl.

Statement of Finding~' The District Engineer has consulted the National Register
of Historic Plaoes and no properties listed in the Register are present at the
site of the proposed oonstruotion. Consultation with the State Historic Preserva
tion Office has not revealed any pe~di~g nominations. No known nationally
signifioant archeologioal or historical sites will be impaoted. This co~stitutes
the extent of cultural resource investigations by the District Engineer. !t is
possible that presently unknown aroheological, scientific, prehistorioal or
historioal data may be inadvertently lost or destroyed by the work accomplished
under the requested permit. In the event cultural resources are found during
oonstruction, it will be requested that work affecting the resources be stopped
and the Colorado State Historic Preservation Officer contacted to determine the
